The last few days we have seen the ugly face of factionism, Yes I am talking about creating a new state out of an old one. It's rather unfortunate that we as Inadians think of ourselves first as either Hindus/Muslims/Christians/Sikhs and if that is not enough then we further break it into Marwaris,Punjabis,Kannadigas, Malayalis and so on.. So when are we INDIANS is the question... A small voice inside me screams out loud answering... Cricket Cricket.... Yes thats probably right... Thats the only time we actually think we are Indians... Thats such a pity isn't it..
Coming back to the topic.. So how does it help to create Telangana... Honestly I really dont know... Actually if you think about it then I guess it's worse coz now the Govt. of India will have to spend on another Capital, Assembly building, Ministiries, Accomodation for the elected representatives and so on.. not to forget the cost of elections again to know who would be elated to be first CM of that state...!!
I had an interesting conversation with a Naga guy who was visiting family and friends back here from US of A, He was a funny guy who kept telling me about the beauty of the North-Eastern states and the way people live there and their priorities back home, So I asked what about the extremists there and the killing of Hindi speaking people by some Naga extremists and the reasons for the same.

I asked him that there was already a Nagaland so what were they fighting for... Pat came the reply "Sovereign State of Nagaland".. What the heck they want to carve another nation for themselves I revolted... Yes was the colluded reply and why not, the Govt has been a wicked Stepmother for them, One of them lamented "Where is development?", In the conversation i was told how they struggle for basic needs such as Water, Roads, Electricity, schools, Hospitals. And I thought that these guys had it all there.
No Sir, Infact contrary to my beliefs the North-Eastern states have not seen any development in the past few decades infact everything you see there is thanks to the 200 years of British Rule that India went through... So Why should they be part of India when they are treated like this?.
Newer and Smaller states will only lead to more public money being spent on unnecessary things such as establishing new states and the infrastructure for the men in Khadi, It's about time the Government woke up and brought in reforms for better Governance to ensure all citizens are treated with equal respect and provided with basic needs to a better livelihood instead of setting up new states, And if that doesn't make any sense then look at Jharkhand and Mr.Koda, who are a shining example of smaller states(tragedy).
Lets make India a better place by beings Indians and not Marwaris or Bengalis or anything else based on our geographic location.
